Taekwondo: The first medal in the Women's competition is around the neck!

First day of European Universities Championship in Taekwondo which started with the competition in recognized Poomsae for girls was exciting. Participation in this event took 16 athletes, and in freestyle Poomsae, we saw the performance of six contestants.

 

Gold medal in Recognized Poomsae won Judit Lopez Blas from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the second was Fatma Torehan from Anadolu University, and on the third place were placed Eva Tondereau from Toulouse Capitole University and Jessica Rau from the University of Trier. Eight girls had the opportunity to compete in finals of European Universities Championship, but the biggest competition was seen between the representatives from Eskisehir and Barcelona. In semifinals, Lopez Blas was placed first and Torehan second with 0,12, lower score, and a representative from France Tondereau was in third place. After the performance of six female athletes’ leader was Tondereau, but she was skipped by a Fatma Torehan which positioned in the first place before the Lopez Blas went to the tatami. Spanish girl firmly and steadily performed techniques and once again gained the highest marks and became the European University champion in recognized Poomsae.

 

After winning the gold medal, Judit Lopez Blas said that she didn't expect this success. "I'm very pleased because of winning a gold medal. I was just a little nervous at first, but I had a good time competing. “

 

Very successful the day is behind Jessica Rau from University of Trier, because after finishing third in Recognized Poomsae, she won the gold medal in FreeStyle Poomsae. Silver medalist became Ronja Paschke from the University of Berlin, and the bronze medal was wrapped around the neck of Bengu Alkan from Anadolu University and Ines Beja e Costa from University Institute Egas Moniz.

 

After the end of the Medal Ceremony, Jessica Rue did not hide her satisfaction because of the enormous success she has made: „I'm so happy. I could not believe that it happened, that I won gold in FreeStyle and bronze medal in Recognized Poomsae. I wanted to reach the final, I got the final, and then it went on fantastic. Now I am excited, happy and motivated for further competitions. “
