On the first day, we also held on the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb General Technical Meeting for karate. Athletes, coaches and all other participants of the event were welcomed by the hosts and then started the draw for the competitions.
Besim Aliti, EUSA Sports Director, opened the event and said that this day is a special one – because it is the first time in history for Zagreb to have Combat University competition with four different martial sports. After him, other speakers were President of WKF, Antonio Espinós Ortueta, Davide Benetello WKF Chair of athletes committee and EC Member, Alois Wiesbock, president of EKF referees committee, Davor Cipek. EUSA technical delegate and a president of Croatian Karate Federation and Nikola Vincetić from the organizational committee. All of them wished good luck to fighters, and after that CASF TD for Karate Luka Požgaj answered on all other questions.
The karate competition is numerous one here in Zagreb with 183 different participating universities from 31 European countries. The structure of the competition is divided into 5 categories, both male and female, and it will be held at Sports Hall “Bojan Stranić”.
After three days of the championship, we will watch the finals and medal awards on the 3rd of August.
