The largest combat sports event for higher education students in Europe next year - the European Universities Combat Championships, featuring Judo, Karate, Kickboxing and Taekwondo competitions, is coming next summer to the Croatian capital Zagreb. Inspection visit was held in November, preparing for the event.

EUSA and OC Team

On behalf of the Organisers they were met by Mr Mario Krvavac, responsible for Judo, Mr Luka Pozgaj, responsible for Karate, Mr Tomislav Novosel, responsible for Kickboxing, Ms Mihaela Strok, responsible for Taekwondo, as well as Mr Davor Habljak, Secretary General of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF), Mr Ronald Strumberger, CASF Sports Director, and Mr Nikola Vincetic, Operations Manager of the Championship.

Meetings

Apart of the operational meetings on key aspects of the organisation, the delegation also visited the sports venues where the competitions will be held.

Venues inspection

The event has already been promoted at the European Championship in Kickboxing in Bratislava and World Championship in Karate in Madrid and the intention is to visit also upcoming major events in Judo and Taekwondo. As EUSA has cooperation agreements with the European Karate Federation - EKF, European Kickboxing Federation - WAKO Europe, World Taekwondo Europe - WTE, and intends to also work closer with the European Judo Union (EJU), and the experiences of the local organisers, we are convinced that the event will be hugely successful.
