EUSA Combat 2019 Championship: 1300 students from all parts of Europe are going to stay from 31.7. to 3.8. in Zagreb

After recently finished European universities beach handball championship (which was held on the Lake Jarun), universities sport summer in Zagreb is starting to be in a full swing with the beginning of EUSA Combat Championship.

 

First edition of this event covers competition in karate, judo, taekwondo and kickboxing and gathers 1300 participants from numerous European universities that will compete from 1. to 3. August for the European title in the current year.

When we say numerous universities we think of 404 of them from 36 different countries, and this event is the greatest by the number of participants in EUSA calendar this year. 

 

The organizers of the event are EUSA and Croatian academic sports association in cooperation with national and European federations from this sports, while organizational partner is the City of Zagreb. 

 

Same as in 2016., when Zagreb was the host of European universities games, students will be accommodated in Student village  „Stjepan Radić“. Competition starts on Thursday from morning to evening hours, and sports venues will be Dom sportova 1 (kickboxing), Dom sportova 2 (judo), S.D.  „Trešnjevka“ (taekwondo) and Volleyball Home „Bojan Stranić“ (karate). Besides sport, the last one will also be the place for the official opening ceremony on 31. July at 20:30h. 

 

All the athletes, officials and volunteers will attend the opening ceremony of the event, as same as numerous representatives from sports and sociopolitical circles. Championships will begin with raising the EUSA flag and with the beats of international student anthem „Gaudeamus Igitur“. The president of the World Karate Federation WKF, Antonio Espinós will be in the audience, as same as the president of the WAKO World kickboxing organization, Roy Baker, and Adam Roczek, the president of the European University Sports Organization EUSA. In the opening ceremony will also enjoy Mayor of the City of Zagreb, Milan Bandić, Krešimir Šamija, Deputy State Secretary of the SDUŠ, as well as presidents of Croatian karate, judo, taekwondo and kickboxing federations. 

 

Among Croatian representatives, most of them will come from the University of Zagreb and the University of Split (competing in all four sports), but there will be also representatives from University of Osijek, University of Rijeka, University of Zadar, University of Dubrovnik, University North, Health Studies Zagreb, The Polytechnic of  Šibenik and Karlovac University of Applied Sciences. 

 

The entrance on all sports venues is free for watching and fights are also available in a live stream on official YouTube Channel (EUSA Combat).
